Buckets game moved off ESPN to Big Ten Network. Wonder who gets better ratings.
Delaney needs to be on the horn with Fox sports exes. Buckeyes  third string to wwe and mlb?

You might not like it, but both of those will draw way more viewers than the OSU game.

Bombers win 4-1 and it goes back to Houston tomorrow night.

So an Astro hits a fly ball into the ceiling girders and it bounces off into foul territory. I donâ€t think the old Astrodome ever had a ball hit the ceiling.

A debate a few buddies and I had last night during the game, curious to hear your opinions.

If you are the Nats, would have rather have 10+ days rest OR have gone straight into the WS riding the hot hand?

Unless they had a lot of injuries to deal with, I think an extra 2 or 3 days rest would be best.  Too much time off is not a good thing.

I don't believe they had any real injuries to deal with...I said exactly the same as you. I'd want 2-3 days and get straight into the WS.

The other 5 guys at the table (one who played in college and up to AA for a few years) all said they'd want the rest.

FWIW, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer

You can't buy a championship every season but they have done it 27 times, so you can't argue with the results of what they do.

You can argue a billion ways they have not won despite the spending, which shows you the money is not really the way to do it.  Houston followed a plan of drafting and development and that is the key.

Let me know when Houston wins 27 championships.

Let me know when that is what we're talking about.   Changing the narrative doesn't change the point of spending a billion over 10 years and not winning anything.  Hell, Houston will probably win and that is TWO more than the Yankees in last 10 years.   Hell, Reds have won more than the Dodgers since 1990 if you want to use your logic.   We're not talking about 150 years of baseball, we're talking about what was spent and what they got out of it last ten years.  Keep up.

Point is they are the most successful franchise and it's not close.  As I said you can't buy a World Series every year but that doesn't mean their methods are a failure.  When we talk about success and failure, long term is much more important than short term.

When you spend a billion and don't win a world title in ten years its a HUGE failure.  Short term isn't 10 years...that's a long time.  Hell, reds have won 2 division titles and wild card in last ten years and I would not call that short term, and I would not call that big success either.

Long term is more important?  HUH?  Who gives a damn what the Yankees did in the 1950s or if the Dodgers won a title in 1988?  No one.

Again, the point is drafting and development is the key today and Houston in on the cusp of 2 world titles in last 3 years and THAT is more important than halcyon days years ago.   If you want to sit around and reminisce about the old days and such have at it.  Most of us want our teams to do it right today and win today.   The past is history and no one gives a damn.   I hope the Reds can follow the Houston plan which is working and they are winning today.

You are not looking at it from a business perspective.  They spend big money to sign great players for a better chance to win but also to draw more fans.  Dodgers drew 3.9 million and Yankees 3.3.  Their TV packages dwarf smaller market teams.  Its about money and winning.  Whatever the Yankees spend on players is a business investment.
