Christians and sin......
#31
Well, in my opinion, and that of others, what Paul taught was importantly different from what Jesus taught.

Paul rarely said much about Jesus' life or words. Of course, that is not a mainstream understanding.

Different yes, wrong No. Jesus came to teach the Jews that the kingdom of God had come, and that he was the Son of the living God, fulfilling prophecy and redeeming all mankind. Honestly most of them didn't know what to do with that. They were looking for a Messiah that would free them from Roman rule, not deliver them from sin. You see that played out when he mentions rebuilding the temple in 3 days. Paul went to people that had zero understanding of Torah law, or covenant. He taught them spiritual truths that revealed the One True God. He also then starting instructing those same churches in Holiness and walking out their salvation. These cultures "served" multiple "gods" and had no understanding of these truths. He also had to correct them in their behaviors.
Paul did disagree with the Apostle Peter, but Peter was the one wrong, and at times Paul was prob hard to get along with, that's why they had Barnabas travel with him and mentor him. In spite of that, he was never "kicked out of the Faith" so to speak, but suffered badly under others for spreading the gospel. Why wouldn't the apostles send him packing in he was so wrong, and why would anyone's endure such beatings for a lie?

One thing to keep in mind when reading and studying the scriptures, Jesus teachings and Paul's letters were not to the American church in 2019. Paul didn't set out to make an Americanized church.

Barabbas (Anthony Quinn) is my favorite Easter time movie.

The freeing of Barabbas and the crucifiction of Christ, was a direct playing out, of the freeing of the Scape goat, and the sacrifice of the the other for the sins of Israel.

When I learned it the focus was always on the teachings of the Prophets. Solomon and David were not the primary characters in their story, but instead the focus was on the teachings of Samuel and Nathan, who were the Prophets of their day.

After Christ's death Peter was the Prophet. He along with James and John were the leaders of the Church. Not Paul.

1 John 1 : 8-9
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and tthe truth is not in us. 9 uIf we confess our sins, he is vfaithful and just to forgive us our sins and rto cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This about sums it up if Christians sin.

Just live for Jesus on Sundays and for Satan the rest of the week. Cool.

You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation
You got a brand new soul
Mmm, and a cross of gold
But Virginia they didn't give you quite enough information
You didn't count on me
When you were counting on your rosary

They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun

I'm not saying that the Prophets are not important, they certainly are, but I don't understand how Nathan and not David and Solomon was the focus of the story. David is refered to in multiple scriptures concerning the Messiah and Israel, not Nathan. That honestly makes no sense to me. I would say there are few people more important in scripture than David is.
