Your children are not created as man was by God if you accept the Old Testament.   In my mind the Jewish authors of the Old Testament such as Moses painted God as very austere and unforgiving.   Killing animals for blood sacrifice of sins, the flood to kill vermin of the Earth, Moses, denied entry to the land of milk and honey, in my mind is not the same forgiving God of the New Testament.  Things changed, or did the outlook of different authors changed in the letter to the Churches and the Gospels?  Believe as you wish.

I agree that there was a drastic change in the image of God between the Old and New Testament. However, I think it's foolish to believe that the change was anything but man-made, unless you believe that God suddenly transformed his perfect self into something different.

I'm not saying anything but what is observable from reading the bible.   I read the New Testament last year and thought it somewhat repetitive to some degree, but very different in tone of the authors in the old testament.   People can believe how they wish is my sentiment.
