Everybody's Vote Should Count(ie eliminate the Electoral College)

Iâ€m serious as a heart attack when I say this but I think the US is beyond fixable. Various parts of the country have TOTAL differences in interests and how they want to be governed. That said, and this will never happen, I think the US should be broken up into 3 separate countries. The NE starting with New York and up, the West Coast states and everyone else. All keep the US dollar as currency. Each area has something to trade except the NE probably has the least but there are areas in New York State that could be agriculturally developed.

Now the division of the military could be interesting. There are few bases in the NE. The West has a few with the majority being in the South and other Central states.

Anyway, itâ€s a little out there but I really do think thatâ€s the solution to make just about every region happy or happier.

Does this move by the states to change how they award votes have a real shot? I don't know legally, maybe, but will enough states join in to get to 270? That is a real question I think.

The newly elected president has to be verified in  December  with electors from each state meeting to cast their votes.   This could lead to a dispute similar to the one between Rutherford B Hayes and Samuel Tilden of NY.  It took a commission to settle that one and of course the commission came down to who controlled congress.  Republicans won.

When the voters in each state cast votes for the Presidential candidate of their choice they are voting to select their state's Electors. ... There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states.
