Ohio State Football 2020 Recruiting

Nice summary for the weekend... https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-foot...an-ransom/

At the end of the day, OSU recruiting will be top ten, at least, probably top 5 or 6, which is very very good considering the coaching changes.

Necessary but not sufficient comes to mind.

2021 Quarterbacks Kyle McCord and J.J. McCarthy Next in Line in Ohio State vs. Michigan Rivalry  https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-stat...an-rivalry

Ryan Day helped bring Dwayne Haskins to his record-setting 2018 form. Justin Fields is now expected to be the latest and greatest experiment in Columbus.

Jim Harbaugh earned the reputation of a quarterback whisperer thanks to the work he put in at Stanford and later with the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick.

I see him more of a larger Braxton Miller. Not in the Dwayne Haskins category. Still pretty good for CFB.

I do not see him throwing 30 TDs in any single season.

Folks MIGHT be surprised by how often and well he passes versus runs the ball. He's a big kid, but he should not be running very often for obvious reasons. If he can take a sack when it's not there or scamper OOB, he should do well I think.

There were a fair number of Dawg fans predicting he'd beat out Fromm when fall practice started last year.

Anyone who follows Ohio State should NOT have been surprised when Urban announced his retirement.  It was apparent that he was NOT well.

He was not 'well' when he left Florida. I suspect he's using this angle to avoid confrontation with the current OSU President. I knew when that dude threw Meyer under the bus it was game, set, and match. I said "It would not surprise me to hear Meyer stepping down at the end of the season" on the NH 2.0. I was never on the team that claimed health issues. I'm not denying he has health issues either.

I am of the view that it was DEFINITELY Urban's health issue that compelled him to resign/retire.

I too believe he has medical issues.

I have no clue what that means to his future though. I could see him being done coaching. I could see him returning to OSU's sidelines in the future. I could see him being on USC's sidelines in 2020.

I am glad that Paris Johnson is solid though. He was one that Day really couldn't afford to lose.

Urban is in the long tradition of successful football coaches who throw a hissy fit and quit for 'health' or 'family' reasons when it is suggested that their stubborness in adaptability has cost their team some success in a given period of time.............Barrett at QB, Zach Smith on staff...............

FWIW, tOSU has a silent verbal-Ransom, and is in the driver's seat-Robinson, for Lathan Ransom and Bijan Robinson, both of Tucson-Salpointe Catholic, arguably the top S and RB available in the country.....

On the one hand, I am NOBODY to question Urban's coaching philosophy.  On the other hand, I was NEVER a fan of his offense.  I think the spread/running QB offenses are gimmick offenses for less talented teams.  It's always been my belief that tOSU should run a pro-style offense.  That means having a big QB with a great arm that throws with speed, touch and accuracy.  We need to recruit great linemen, great running backs and great receivers and then utilize them just like the NFL does.  Last year, we FINALLY had a pro-style QB and he lit up the record books.  Now, we're having our pick of the best QB's and best receivers in the nation.  I have no idea if Ryan will replicate Urban's success, but I most definitely agree with his offensive philosophy.

I agree. Add the investigation that found him guilty of nothing yet tOSU President throws him under the bus. I could see it in his eyes and it was not good. He might coach again but it won't be in cbus. The college football fan in me wants him at USC. I always wondered what he'd do at Texas, USC, Clemson, and Georgia with all that talent.

I don't think Drake threw him under the bus. Drake was justifiably pissed that the whole Smith mess rose to his level w/out Urban doing something smart long ago. It's like a 4 star general having to intervene b/c a colonel was covering for an idiot lieutenant under his command and didn't shitcan him before the situation spun out of control. Urban deserved his 3 games for being willfully naive/stupid/whatever in regards to Zach Smith's entire tenure at tOSU.
