We are doing an Alaska cruise in September followed by a trip around the state of WA. Might see some scenery there is the weather is not bad.

Went to Prescott for the world's oldest rodeo last weekend. Didn't stay anywhere but that is a good time. Good road trip through Wickenburg and Yarnell.  A parade early in the day and went to the rodeo at night after eating dinner at The Palace on Whiskey Row. Real small town American fun. Best quantity and quality of young women in daisy dukes and boots I've seen since my last trip to the Texas State Fair. That's a look that never goes out of style. 
Highly recommended if you're in AZ at that time. Nice and cool at night as well, high 70s.

One beautiful young woman sat next to me and after bumping into me apologized and said "you're so good looking". I laughed and said 'you're so trashed" which was the case. I guess beer goggles work both ways.

Sorry thought I clicked add last time. I did majority of my research and planned my travel  itinerary  around various travels blogs sites and recommendations from natives and foreigners. I went for 10 days and visited Tokyo, Kamakura, Nara, Kyoto, Osaka, Miyajima and Hiroshima. I most enjoyed Tokyo and least enjoyed Osaka (it was raining and didnâ€t have much time to sight see) 

I was able to get round trip tickets for cheap by looking on Kayak and signing up for email alerts when price drops on a certain trace date I selected. Flight was easy, up to Canada and over to Japan. 13 hours total. Will go again someday.

I went for 10 days and visited Tokyo, Kamakura, Nara, Kyoto, Osaka, Miyajima and Hiroshima. I most enjoyed Tokyo and least enjoyed Osaka (it was raining and didnâ€t have much time to sight see)

We went down to the pool yesterday and the wife asked me "Why do we ever travel anywhere?".

For me:

1. Places with notable scenery.
2. Places with interesting history.
3. Family/close friends.

I used to think of going to places where we could relax and enjoy, but frankly we can do that easily here without the pain and expense of travel, so it has dropped of my list.

Since we moved, my kids are visiting far more often than they did when we were 100 miles away, it's a bit unexpected, but good.

Yeah I donâ€t get the go somewhere and lay around vacation. As you note I can do that at home. Itâ€s why I donâ€t really get the beach vacation. I could pile some sand next to the pool. Wildlife, scenery, history, etc. need to be in play. Something I canâ€t see or do at home.

The wife likes the beach, so we go, and I enjoy good seafood. I do a lot of reading and I can do it there as well as here.

Hilton Head is fine with me in the off season. We usually go for 9-10 days in January before baseball. Baseball is my incentive to stay in shape, get in shape. It's in Sarasota this year, already sold out.
