The apartment she lived in with her parents was VERY tiny.  Her bedroom was half the size of the first bedroom i rented if that.  You could barley stand between the single bed and the wall.  It was the size of a jail cell?

I got to go to East Berlin and the wall wasn’t even down.  It felt like a ghost town.  Clean, but sterile.  I didn’t stay long.  You couldn’t stay long.  I vividly recall going through a hole in the wall to spray paint a message to the East Berliners on their side of the wall.  Some were saying don’t do it.  That I could be shot.  My message was epic.  A-Kidd strikes.  I’m pretty sure I misspelled strikes.  LOL

When my wife and I visited her relatives in Hungary 10+ years later, their apartment was likewise very small.
Much Smaller than my buddy’s trailer park home.

What are YOU willing to give up for nice?

Go out to the provinces and it is bad.” Same thing with Russia-Tucker Carlson isn’t going to Perm or Chelyabinsk anytime soon.

I wonder what is meant by "bad".  There are plenty of "bad" places in the U.S., all run by the establishment figures that constantly attack Hungary and Poland.

The same can be said about Washington D.C.  The counties surrounding D.C. are the richest in the nation.  The funny thing is that D.C. itself is a violent, crime-ridden, ****hole.

As bad as it is in Appalachia, the differences between it and DC pales in comparison to the differences in Russia.

I guess I'll have to take your word for that but I doubt that Appalachian communities have the levels of extreme violence and crime that exists in our nation's capitol.

Perhaps I misunderstood, I was speaking to the general living conditions and the services that the government provides to them. As a former inhabitant of DC, yes, the crime in certain areas is just out of control and way worse than in any part of Appalachia.

Cleveland can drive to Mayfield or Avon.  Not so much in the Tuvan Republic.
