K9BuckTrump cancels student-loan debt of disabled veterans
#1
I guess I begrudgingly agree with Trump on this since federal student debt cannot be erased through bankruptcy.

I'm a little confused here because I thought death and disability were the ways you could get out from under student loan debt. So if they're disabled they should be able to get the loans forgiven without this change.

The Veteran has to be 100% P&T or TDIU P&T. This does not mean every single Veteran with a 0% rating will get his student loan debt forgiven. There is already a provision for these P&T types to have their student loan debt forgiven minus the interest on the loan. This simply means the Veteran won't have to go through the hoops to have his student loan debt forgiven.

Note: non Veterans qualify for student loan debt forgiveness if deemed disabled by Social Security (SSDI).

I don't know.  I do know the taxpayer is always a loser when anything becomes "free".

Seems like this is a nothing Trump generated for some publicity while impacted very very very few people.

If $750 million is "nothing" then I agree with you.  That's money sent by taxpayers to various universities that won't be repaid.

I'd be willing to bet most of these Veterans would trade these benefits to get their health back.

I don't have an issue in helping them.  I have an issue with the taxpayer being financially responsible for another's college tuition.

25,000 Veterans in the overall scheme is nothing. I'm shocked it was passed. Soon, we'll read how the DAV, AL, VFW, PH, WW, etc. will take credit and ask for donations.

I'd bet $10,000 the average Veteran has no clue about Title 38. Yet, hearing them talk in the waiting areas one would think these dudes are John Marshall. In reality they are Lionel Hutz or 3v at best.

Conclusion: "But Trump never did give nothing to the tin man. That he didn't, didn't already have"

Taxpayer really takes on a good chunk of burden for those in military considering the VA and so forth.

Their songs are beautiful but make me nostalgic and sad.
