They to have breed somewhere. Thatâ€s going to be in damp soil. Let your plant beds and yard dry out completely between watering. Thatâ€ll kill them. You can put down a sand layer over exposed soil in things like flower beds.

They really hate skunk stench. If you set one of those suckers off, the gnats will be gone for good.

The secret is that they have to have their hind legs firmly planted on the ground in order to generate the force that propels the spray. So you gotta gently lift him up by the tail, just enough to pick his hind legs up off of the ground. Then you carefully turn him around so that his hind end is pointed away from you, then let him down slowly, and he'll spray it all away from ya just as soon as his back feet hit the ground.

If you ever encounter a skunk, it is a great way to make sure he doesn't gitcha.
