Still out of position but much improved.
I had to laugh when one of the announcers said: "Tuf Borland is on the Butkis Award watch list" Now, if he meant Borland would be watching the ceremony, I agree.

Fickell will move on from UC and get a big job at some point I predict.
Ohio State is better than I thought by far and Michigan looked ragged vs Army. Interesting "day" .

Fickell would be wise to stay at UC. His next move will prove to be fatal. Let's say he goes to IL or IN and disappears like the coaches before him. Where does he go from there? NFL? Not a chance. He's a competent recruiter and position coach nothing else.

He won't go to one of those schools in the least. He'll move on to a PAC 12 or SEC. Butch Jones went to Tennessee as an example from UC. Brian Kelley went to ND. Fickell has a top QB coming in from the Cincinnati area which will help him recruit other positions. He beat out Ohio State for this kid which iirc is from Wyoming HS. I'd have to look at the UC schedule but he may not lose but one more the rest of this season. 3-4 years down the road he'll get a nice offer if he continues to progress.

He couldn't get the Fla Intl or FAU job a few years ago. What makes you think he'll get an SEC job? Odd things do occur, so I'll have to take your word for it.

He'll win like Jones and Kelley recruiting in Ohio and down south. This is his second season and he had a nice one last year.  When you look at the Big 10 there is really only room for a dominate team and that is OSU.  Michigan can't do it. Penn St tries but they won't either so Fickell won't return to a conference where he would have to compete with OSU. Ohio State is going to get the lion's share of the recruiting in the conference and Fickell knows that.  GoBucks on here pointed this out to me at work few weeks back and I got to thinking...hmmmmm....he is right.
I don't put much stock in the 2011 season with Fickell at all. I went to see them play in West Lafayette that year vs Purdue and Braxton Miller was freshman QB with Pryor not playing. They were ok. He did about as well as he could really.
I'm not some big Fickell fan in the least.  My son worked out at the senior advanced camp years ago and met Fickell at the camp and hated his guts. I just know that guys who do well at schools like UC get a chance and he will get that chance with an SEC team. That big tub of goo at Wisconsin went to Arkansas as an example. He failed.

Was that penalty on a punt return? I forget.

On December 10, 2016, Fickell was named as the 39th head coach of the University of Cincinnati, taking the place of the resigning Tommy Tuberville.[13] In his first season, Fickell led the Bearcats to a 4-8 record.
2018 would be a historic turnaround of the program finishing with an 11-2 record and a victory in the Military Bowl. Fickell was named AAC Coach of the Year for the 2018 season, which was only the third 11-win season in UC history.
Had a great season last year.

Was that penalty on a punt return? I forget. It was but in the UM game. I saw that play... iirc data has shown something ~75% of serious injuries occur during kickoffs and punts
