Is there some reason to believe that some races are immune to poverty and the influence of their parents?
Going back to your question "Why would race matter..." is there a reason to believe that race should not be a factor?
Both blacks and whites were included in the study, if that's what you mean. I didn't post the entire section from the book because it was so long, but in the two examples that were given (one poor and one middle class), one of them was black and one was white.

Maybe it was included in the full study. I haven't read the entire study to see everything that was looked at.Â
I can tell you this, my family grew up a whole lot closer to poor than middle class. I played 2 years of football. Playing football was 100% my idea and my parents didn't come to a single one of my football games. I also played softball for a year and wrestled for a year. My parents came two one wrestling match and that was only because they had to drive me to the state finals. Never once did my parents asked if I wanted to play sports in school or through the city.
 The extent of my parents involvement in school was to ask me if I did my homework each night.
My wife grew up in a family that was middle class and she is the exact opposite of me, or at least my Natural Instincts, as far as extracurricular activities and involvement in school.

If the theory is that a certain parenting style has a major influence on future success, why would it matter what race that person is? The study includes people from all races and, in the book referencing the study, the examples include black and white families, but I didn't read anything about parenting styles influencing one race more than another.

Genetics and environment (parents, friends, teachers, life experiences, etc)Â both directly impact a child's development.

Only success that matters is how much money is made. I have never heard anybody with money say "I wish I was poor" "I'd rather be working a dead end job" "Money sucks".
What do the best schools, neighborhoods, food have in common? All cost money. No money, success.

Being a helicopter parent with constant activities and nagging doesn't necessarily guarantee more intelligent children. The best thing a parent can do for kids is to get them reading early and often, and to model that behavior for them in your own actions. If kids are exposed to language and it's intelligent use at an early age, they will adapt to it's usage easily. OTOH, if they are only exposed to Instagram, x-box, and Teen Mom/Judge Judy/Dancing W/ the Stars/Zombie Tiny House-not good for the old cerebral cortex.
