I can't imagine being on a college campus in the late 60s/early 70s. Probably a good thing for me that I missed that era.   Big Grin

It's funny thinking back on where I decided to matriculate.  I ended up at BGSU because they had a good business school.  My fall back was tOSU because they had to let everyone in who applied if they were denied their first choice.  My, how times have changed.  My wife went through tOSU in three years.  In response to being in college during those years, I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything.  Also, a childhood in the 50's and 60's was terrific.  Can't imagine what it's like for kids these days.  God has been removed from school.  Pledge of allegiance has been removed.  Common sense has been removed.  Just awful.

Also, my wife and I walk in the mornings and just about every day this summer we noticed there were no children out playing any where.  Computers and smart phones?  That is not the right way to grow up.

A family down the street have 4 kids. 3 boys and 1 girl. Those kids play outside every single day regardless of the weather. Not one other kid in the area plays.

The local grade school has two baseball diamonds that have grass infields. Nobody has used them in 25 years. I brought my nephews to the field and a cop told us we were trespassing. The sign was posted in the back of the school right near the back door. I would never look there. We went to the local park where I play softball and another cop told us we were trespassing. We went to the large county park where I also play softball and the park ranger told us we were not allowed to use the fields. We had to use the open field across the street.

Any wonder why kids don't play outside?

The high school down the street from me locks the gates on the two boys baseball fields and girls softball field.
The only field open is the girls practice softball field which I play ball with my dogs on because its fenced in.

I watched the Brady Bunch when I was a kid. It had reruns on about the time I got home from school.

Childhood in the 80s was great... plenty of kids outside to play all day in the neighborhood. I learned a ton hanging out with kids from the neighborhood... eg how to throw a curve, how to get along, stand up for myself, fight, etc.

That way of life slowly morphed into helicopter parents and structured/scheduled activities, play dates, sports practice, etc. My grandma said air conditioning would be the end of neighborhoods as she knew them... when just about everyone was outside, especially in the evenings and after dinner, and everyone knew their neighbors and their neighbor's neighbor and so on. It's rare (in middle class or higher neighborhoods) to see anyone outside.

Didn't the actor that played the dad on that show bone all of the daughters?

Or am I thinking of Full House?

No, he was boned by some men.  Jumped out of the closet at some point.  His name was Robert Reed.  He played the part of Mike Brady.

What did Mike Brady die of?

He died on May 12, 1992 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California at age 59. Reed's death was initially attributed solely to cancer, but details from his death certificate were made public revealing that Reed was HIV positive.

Around here only dog parks.

I watched Brady reruns later in life. When on guard duty, CQ, or Battalion Duty, etc.
