Young people need to consider the trades for the future

Yup. A couple of my nephews decided it was better to learn a trade. They will takeover their father's business sooner than later. Even their sister decided to take a bookkeeping course over a four year degree.

Yup. A couple of my nephews decided it was better to learn a trade. They will take over their father's business sooner than later. Even their sister decided to take a bookkeeping course over a four year degree.

College degrees are overpriced and overrated today.   Medicine or something with a license would be areas to choose and do well or engineering.   I would not choose my degree today if I had to do over.  Takes to long too really make some decent money and you have to get a masters at some point.   A young guy or gal can do much better in the trades.

I don't regret becoming an electrician. Made decent money and a good retirement and wasn't stuffed in an office. It's not for everybody but neither is college.

There are definitely way too many people with garbage degrees and far too few people with marketable skills in the trades. I'm not sure how to fix that. Colleges pricing themselves out of business may be one way but I worry about the work ethic of recent generations. A lot of them don't even drive.
