Would you vote to legalize prostitution?

Married guy goes to a prostitute.  Is that a victim-less scenario?  I can definitely see entertaining the argument that it isn't.

A guy that isn't married but is bouncing off the walls? ok...  I don't see a huge issue there.

If you legalized it, or at least decriminalized it, I guess people would self regulate more.  If a dude is married and cheats he would be kicked to the curb by his wife if it were illegal just as well.

I guess what I'm saying here---as I think this through---is that I would be cool with taking out the criminal element.  That said, not sure I want my society putting on its seal of approval by collecting taxes from it, etc...  Am I making any sense with that?

I understand your sentiments.  I believe free people should be free to pay for sex without becoming a criminal.  I also believe that it's better for society to take such things out of the dark and out of the wretched hands of bona-fide criminals.

I thought it was only Liberals that wanted to create a utopian society?  Don't you think society would be better of all the guns were gone?

What does prohibiting prostitution have to do with a utopia?

Not sure about that argument.  If you make robbery legal then you are taking it out of the hands of criminals since it is no longer illegal.

Your reasoning for not legalizing drugs and prostitution is because is creates the kind of society that you don't want to live in.  If you're willing to sacrifice those two freedoms to engineer the kind of society that you want, why not sacrifice other freedoms, like guns, for example.

Guns are protected specifically by the 2nd Amendment and I support the reasoning behind it.  That is not a political issue.

I think if we are all honest about it, prostitution and drugs definitely fit into the ultimate gray area regarding freedom and liberty.  For me some drugs make sense, some don't.  Prostitution in some situations makes sense, not so much in others.  Translation:  how do you see it as simply an individual freedom issue when often times other people are negatively affected?

Yes. I don't believe in punishing consenting adults who are conducting a business transaction.  It's called capitalism.

who's going to make sure that both are consenting adults?
Boobs are proof that men can concentrate on 2 things at the same time

Ok, what about alcohol.  Clearly society would be better without alcohol.  Why not treat it like drugs and prostitution?

Robbery involves an unwilling party that is damaged.  Your analogy is not analogous.

The same way we do when two folks at a bar decide to hook up.
