Bad news on obtaining Realmuto.   Phillies got him.  DANG

In a way I'm glad because Reds are keeping their jewels for the future.

That's been the routine the last few years.  Hopefully we can keep it interesting til the AS break and beyond this year.

Injuries wrecked them couple times, bad trades others, and poor management.  Watch for Puig to have monster year and wood to win 15 games.   Also getting rid of Bailey will make a huge difference in clubhouse along with the new staff

Bailey was worthless, dude got paid millions essentially for throwing that no-hitter a few years back. Couldn't stay healthy and when he was healthy, he was never worth the money. Goodbye. Offense should be fun to watch. Hopefully Votto stays healthy and has another good year and Puig comes out blasting. I think Bell will be a good manager, family has a long history in the MLB. Nevertheless, the NL Central remains one of the toughest divisions.
What're you doing here?

I looked up Puig's stats. Are people really excited over a guy who has a lifetime batting average of .279? To be fair, he did hit .267 last year up from his .263 the past two seasons.

That was the time frame when I was a kid that we would go to Crosley and take in a game.  Who was the other outfielder then, Tommy Harper?

Absolutely.   Look at George Fosters stats before he found his way off the bench in SF and onto the Reds team in 1972.  Puig has power and RBI ability and with the already potent offense he and Kemp will help tremendously.

Wally Post in early 60s.

Harper and then Rose would transition.

Essentially Pinson and Robinson were the best two OFers

George Foster left SF after a grand total of 24 at bats.  He had one good season (1977) and was a poor hitter the majority of time in Cincinnati.

This Puig guy seems to be getting worse as seasons go on. Will he hit .345 this year or his usual .260's?

He won't hit 345.  He will hit mucho HRs and drive in many runs.  Reds will have top 5 NL offense  this year.

If Puig hits 35+ HR's he is worth the effort. I hope he does well. I want the Reds in contention to push the Cardinals.

Cards are going to be VERY good this year.   Reds will challenge them well.  The NL is a tough division, one of the top in baseball with Cubs and Cards and Brewers being strong.  Pirates have some pitching but they lost some players too.  They will be good.  Like to see Reds pick up Josh Harrison
https://www.baseball-reference.com/playe...jo05.shtml

I look for Nick Senzel to get shot at CF.  He will be an upgrade offensively over Billy Hamilton but he won't be as good as him on defense.
Senzel will struggle a bit but in his rookie year this summer he should progress into a fine player.
